Parakeet

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(Redirected from Parakeets)

A parakeet is one of several parrot species. The term is descriptive and used for small to medium-sized, long-tailed parrots but does not imply a taxonomic link between the different parakeets.

For the small bird often sold in pet stores, see budgerigar.

For other birds with the name "Parakeet", see:

Parakeet is also the name given the Australian Army's mobile battlefield communication system. It was introduced into service in the mid 1990s through project JP65. Parakeet was considered (at the time) advanced military communications. This included secure voice and data trunking services. Project JP2072 has been recently raised to upgrade its sub-systems. It is operated by Royal Australian Corps of Signals (RASIGS) personnel.
